The project was launched in 2015 with the objective of not just training but also suitably enabling the candidates to be able to get jobs or be self employed. Under the Unnati Project Nari Sewa Samiti was able to train and place 160 women candidates in 2015. In the current year there are 265 candidates undergoing training. The courses introduced this year are in paramedic training which is a 6 month course and a computer programming short course.
In addition, Unnati supports the activities of Nari Kala Mandir production centre. Here the girls are enrolled in the fashion design course to learn stitching and dying of fabrics, and making other handicraft items.
The Samiti is able to run this Project entirely with funding from Bajaj Auto Ltd, Pune, and the candidates are not charged any fee for the training imparted.
Unnati has been a benchmark of skill development and training with the purpose of employment. The women and young girls, age 18 and above enrolling for the programme have been able to avail of the best infrastructure facilities provided, with 13 new computers installed in 2016.
